From Dogubeyazit to Van: Some Facts

There are only 5 or 6 buses a day from Dogubeyazit to Van, maybe less in the winter, hence it is advisable to buy your ticket in advance as soon as possible. I had to spend an additional two hours waiting for the next available bus, because the bus at 12 o'clock was fully booked.

The bus company which operates the route Dogubeyazit - Van is called Ishak Pasha Turizm (although they do not operate the mini-bus to the Ishak Pasha Palace). Their office is located at a side street opposite the mini-bus stop for buses to/from Agri, just a few meters from the main throughfare of Dogubeyazit.

There are several hotels in Dogubeyazit, and most are fairly cheap but run-down places. I chose to stay at Grand Derya Hotel. It has spacious, clean room with fridge, air-conditioning, en-suite rooms and a view of the peak of the Mount Ararat. It is located on one of the busiest streets in Dogubeyazit ,and is within walking distance to the mini-bus stops for Van, Ishak Pasha Palace, as well as Igdir/Kars.

Hotel Grand Derya: En-suite Rooms with TV, air-condition, fridge, free WiFi, breakfast costs 50TL (single room).

The minibus to Igir is located about 100 meter to the right of the Ishak Pasha Turizm office. From Igdir, change to another mini-bus for Kars.

There are perhaps two or three main streets in Dogubeyazit, this being the one on which most of the hotels (including Hotel Grand Derya) are located.
