As said, there are several L'espresso cafe bars in Valencia, and this one on the busy shopping street of Calle de la Paz is a nice place to have a coffee break in the afternoon if you happen to be around the corner.
I like this place because of its large windows which offer plenty of natural lights into the cafe. Also the slightly dingy warmth of the ceiling lights offer a touch of radiance and intimacy to the whole interior. It seems like a good place for some serious discussions and small-talks.
Sweet baked items, pastry, savoury snacks, sandwiches etc. are all available with your coffee. Some hot food and simple pasta dishes can also be made to order.
The cafe is located on the ground floor of a beautiful art deco building. I ordered a cup of illy caffe speciality, a mini-cappuccino called Capibi which is rarely available outside of Illy Caffe's home town of Trieste in Italy. It was the first time in Spain that I saw this miniature-cappuccino feature on the coffee menu of any bar or cafe.
Although the mini-cappuccino tasted good, I found the staffs working at this place somewhat aloof. They can certainly make do with a bit more smile on their face. Nothing to complain though, as the Spanish economy is undergoing a hard time so I cannot really expect everyone to put on a friendly face at all times.
