Picturesque Suburbs of Istanbul (Part 4): Istinye

The neighbourhood of Istinye is not very well-known amongst foreign visitors, but locals flock to the little waterside village, about 40 minutes by car on the European side of the Bosphorus, for its restaurants and views.

Modern Istinye is fast becoming a up-market place, due to the recent opening of Istinye Park, a large shopping mall with many luxury brands' flagship stores and exlcusive designer boutiques.

There are many waterfront family restaurants and tea houses which cater to family gatherings at affordable prices. Unlike the more sophisticated and expensive Bebek, prices in Istinye are still fairly reasonable by Istanbul standards. On weekends, the centre of Istinye would come alive with cars, pedestrians and restaurant goers all over the place.

Istinye is also a good place to admire the beautiful scenery of the Bosphorus in the evening twilights.
